Keynote Speakers

Jim MahoneyJim Mahoney will present "Learning without Limits"

Dr. Mahoney uses his years of experience as an educator to explain the three things we need to swap in order to truly revolutionize the training world.

How can we dare to make training about improvement, not judgement; and about relevance, not limits?

In this keynote, Jim shares insights into three things that we should de-emphasize in training. These are the things that hold trainers back and discourage learning without limits. Instead, training professionals should emphasize the importance of personalization, participation, and not having a one-size-fits-all approach to training. Leave this keynote inspired to action with examples of best practices and practical examples of how to inspire and encourage learning without limits. For more information about Jim see his Bio.

Mike Taylor
Mike Taylor
will present: "A Few Things L & D Should Steal From the Marketing Department"

We may not realize it, but as learning professionals, we have a lot of things in common with marketers. We both face one big challenge: How to get people’s attention and help them think and act in new ways.

So what can we learn from marketing teams? As it turns out, a lot. In today’s hyper-distracted world, we must first engage our audience if we have any hope of informing them. Savvy marketers understand how to use the latest technologies and tap into the psychology of emotions — there’s a reason you don’t see bullet points in advertising.

This session will reveal some tools and techniques that marketers have been successfully using for years to capture attention and move people to take action. You’ll also see easy-to-implement examples that show these principles and technologies in action.

Additional Speakers

Jennifer Adair will present "Different Perspectives"

There's a well-known adage that perception is reality. How we see something becomes our truth, which can sometimes be self-limiting.  Giving yourself a new perspective can open up new possibilities and generate ideas you haven’t thought of. It can help you improve a relationship with someone and help you enjoy and appreciate all the good things you already have.  Jennifer Adair will lead us through an exercise to uncover our  unconscious bias and perspectives and how it impacts training.

Dawnielle Pierce will present "DiSC"

DiSC is a powerful method for understanding yourself and others. The DiSC Behavior Styles that are so popular today are based on theories developed by the Harvard educated psychologist, Dr. William Moulton Marston. His DiSC profile theory recognizes four basic, predictable behavior patterns observed in human beings.  During this session, attendees will achieve insight into their own behavioral style and will learn techniques to make training and communication more effective in the workplace.  Attendees will receive a DiSC assessment and a Motivator Assessment as a part of the registration fee ($100-$150 value).
