About this event
SONOSYNTHESIS Benefit Concert Series presents
Flow | colorful, fluid music for flute and guitar
Cari Shipp, flute | Coin Davin, guitar
Fall is in the air. The seasons are changing, the cycles are cycling, and time flows onward. Take a pause from the hustle and bustle to appreciate beautiful music in a serene setting, surrounded by those in our community coming together to support one another - both the musicians, and our International Neighbors. You may not recognize all (or any!) of the composers on the program, but you're sure to leave refreshed and inspired by the Flow.
Doors open at 4:30 PM with wine and hors d'oeuvres; performance begins at 5 PM.
THE PROGRAM
Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune | Claude Debussy
Sonata "Arpeggione", D. 821 | Franz Schubert
Fish Tale | Osvaldo Golijov
Goyescas | Elisenda Fábregas
THE MUSICIANS
Cari Shipp is known for her vibrant sound, insightful programming, and charismatic performances. Though she performs widely as an orchestral musician in the region, her passion is intimate chamber concerts emphasizing connection through music. She collaborates with elite musicians to bring forth the gems of the flute repertoire. Read more.
One of today’s most dynamic young artists, Colin Davin has performed across the world, including at Carnegie Hall, the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, the Afghanistan National Institute of Music, the Fridge Fringe in Dubai, and the Paris Conservatoire. Read more.
THE BENEFITTING ORGANIZATION
International Neighbors is a small, grassroots organization in Charlottesville, Virginia. For nearly ten years, we have worked to equip thousands of newcomers (refugees and SIVs) with the skills and resources to thrive. We are a referral-based organization, meaning that we meet the needs of newcomers who are made known to us through local schools, hospitals, neighbors, and self-referrals. That type of support looks like English tutoring, food pantry deliveries, driving lessons, and employment assistance, among many others.
THE VENUE
801 Park Street, or North End, is the beautiful and historic home owned by Daniel Krasnegor and Kristin Jensen. They have hosted concerts for Early Music Access Project, Victory Hall Opera, and of course, SONOSNTHESIS Benefit Concert series. We are delighted to be playing in this warm, welcoming space once again. Free street parking is available and feel free to use Park Hill for drop offs as needed.
THE CONCERT SERIES:
