Someoddpilot Records and Consumers Research & Development are back, two sister record labels born in Chicago in the late 90's/ early 00's, and with them comes a parade of early Chicago electronic musicians that defined an era of small intimate gatherings, musical experimentation, curiosity and camaraderie. Tonight’s bill features two such legendary under-underground performing artists Salvo Beta and String Theory. They will be joined by (relative) newcomer Noise Shrine.

The second in an ongoing series of performances, this show features Someoddpilot recording artists Salvo Beta, whose debut Abrasive Stuttering, was the second release in the label’s history. This is the first time in 19 years Salvo Beta has performed live, and a treat it promises to be. A dedicated noise and glitch enthusiast, Sean Wolfe launched the project to get at the incessant rhythms, static chaos, blip and bleeps, and ADHD inside his head. Having worked with legendary artists like Melt Banana, Pele, Hrvatski, Jake Mandell, and tonight’s co-headliner String Theory on remixes for his follow-up release Evil vs Evil, Sean is a unique and daring artist who must be experienced to be believed. Or believed to be experienced. He will be joined by long time collaborator Dan Smith on drums. Salvo Beta is currently working on an album of new material.

String Theory is a pair of Chicago lads who defined electronic cinematic soundscapes for this great city, coming closest to a Boards of Canada that Chicago never had. A large part of the Consumers Research & Development label, this is their first show in eons as well. Lush electronics comprise their gorgeous debut, Anhedonia (Consumers), and subsequent recordings Radiovalerian (Wobblyhead) and a split 7” with Pele’s Magic Arrows. A large part of the Consumers Research & Development label, the pair went on to write and record under the name Thorny Tigers and are 2/3 of Parks & Gardens with Andy Duncan of Ok Go.
