Solstice Sketching: A Study of Light and Dark
Overview
As the longest night of the year creeps closer, take a moment to sink into the darkness of the season. Explore how deep shadows and tonal contrasts can create atmospheric drawings and experiment with the creative possibilities of charcoal. During this class we’ll take inspiration from the nature on our doorstep, drawing trees, plants and landscapes. Throughout the class we’ll work with a simple set of materials: paper, charcoal, pencil and eraser.
Choose between two ticket options:
- Class only: £20
- Class plus package of homemade charcoal: £30. This option will be available to purchase until the 8th of December so that I can post the charcoal to you in time for the class. Your parcel will include charcoal made from willow, fruit trees and rose stems; all gathered from my garden and local landscape and made in my back garden. UK buyers only.
This class will take place on Zoom. Due to the interactive nature of the session it will not be recorded.
This class is suitable for beginners through to practicing artists looking for a creative refresh.
