About this event
Today more than ever -after the long confinement that alienates one from each other-, we must gather in person to reconnect and together discuss how to reinvent a reality in which we expect to shift ecological dynamics with solidary community and collective decision making.
Join us and let's continue the struggle for a world in which all worlds can fit.
Since 2015 the annual Soil Not Oil International Conference has focused on practical solutions to climate change, the most important challenge that humanity currently faces and that hit the ¨global economic center¨, -Europe is facing unprecedented rise of temperatures and historic shortage of water-; climate change has been impacting every year harder as well in the state of California.
As pandemic scare prevails in some sectors, we have decided, with the support of our longtime allies and co-organizers Tara Firma Farms, to move the conference to their farm, which counts with a large barn that they have used for large events and gatherings and that among their facilities include a large functional kitchen to feed attendees and an experienced team that will make public feel home in a safe and healthy environment.
The 8th Soil Not Oil Gathering will take place on:
September 17th and 18th @Tara Firma Farms, 3796 I Street Ext Petaluma CA 94952.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite: Soil Not Oil 2022

About the organizer
Global food security and life of future generations is at risk. The Soil Not Oil Coalition is part of a global-growing movement leaded by scientists, environmental organizations and citizens who share concerns and collect data that proves the decline in soil health, which is the result of the use of fossil fuels since the 1800's and the extended use of agro-chemicals in industrial agriculture since the 1960's, those factors, along with deforestation, acidification of the ocean and disruption of ecological cycles, have created a problem that only can be solved with educating on tools available to sequester carbon back into the soils . We believe that restructuring land management practices is key to combating climate change, restoring water cycles, reducing global environmental pollution, stopping ocean acidification, re-establishing biodiversity, improving food production and revitalizing local economies across the planet. The corporate agricultural practice of using more chemicals, more often at higher concentrations with high transportation costs, is not sustainable and deteriorates soil health and productivity, while only benefiting corporate financial interests. Furthermore, we recognize that rapidly accelerating human-caused climate change is a current threat to food security and requires urgent action to halt the reckless and expanding fossil fuel industry. The Soil Not Oil Coalition promotes research and further understanding to optimize soil carbon sequestration and sustainability, to aid in the development of adequate food production for future generations and to help reverse the effects of global warming.
