This training will be provided in two, 1.5-hour sessions:

Training Description:

Through an intersectional healing centered framework, participants will increase their understanding and develop skills to create safer, more inclusive classroom environments for young people who identify as LGBTQI+.

The training will cover the foundational concepts of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (SOGIE), health and educational disparities facing LGBTQI+ youth, laws that protect students, resources available, and specific strategies for classroom teachers and other staff working in a classroom or group environment.

This training is facilitated by local experts from the Rainbow Community Center (RCC) of Contra Costa County. RCC is the only organization in Contra Costa County that is solely focused on serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI+) community.

Target Audience:

Teachers/Staff; Community-based Organization Staff; Educators. This training is most appropriate for classroom-based educators, staff, and community partners.
