For those working within community mental health in Wayne County, this training introduces participants to a social identity framework focused on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. In addition to learning about S.O.G.I.E. in the context of social identities, participants will also review best practices to enhance interpersonal and professional relationships with clients and peers who identify as L.G.B.T.Q.+ or have diverse/expansive S.O.G.I.E.

In the event we shift from an In-Person format to a virtual format, an individual computer with camera and audio activated is required for this training. Participants will be in breakout rooms and need access to type responses. Please reach out to trainers to request accommodations.

Do I need to attend the full training to receive credit?

Yes. This training is offered several times each year. Please select a date when you can attend the full training. No partial credit offered.

Does this training count toward my training hours?

Yes, AND this training offers 3 CEUs through the NASW of Michigan.

Do I need to participate to receive credit for this training?

Yes. If you have barriers to participation (such as coming off mute, using the chat, completing a poll, taking the anonymous post-survey) you can reach out to training@ruthelliscenter.org to request accommodations for participation.

What else do I need to know about the Clairmount Town Hall space?

There are private, non-gendered restrooms available in the town hall space. Snacks, coffee,water & tea will be provided for all sessions. We will be monitoring the front door to let folx in started at 12:30pm & again at 230pm for folx We will be utilizing a microphone to support audio accessibility

Where can I park?

Parking is free in front and in the back of the building. Parking is limited in the back - arrive early to find parking. DO NOT park in the grocery store across the street - parking is reserved for patrons of the store. Be careful not to block driveways while parking in the front of the building.
