Software Side of New Product Development
Topics to include experiences in software development, software estimation, and the confluence of embedded, desktop, web and mobile applications. Also touching on Software as a Service (SaaS).

Speakers
Tom Fischer, Applied Sciences Group, Tom graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from SUNY at Buffalo. After graduation he developed embedded radar software applications for the defense industry over a ten year period. Following that he developed and managed flight inspection software for the civil aeronautics agencies worldwide. In 2002 he joined Applied Sciences Group, first as a software engineer and finally in 2009 became the manager of the custom software development group. In addition to leading the group of fifteen software engineers, he manages about 50 projects a year and supports sales with proposal writing. Tom is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Tom’s versatility extends beyond engineering. He is also a skilled bassist and has played in bands around Buffalo for the 30 years.

Don Laux, Applied Sciences Group, Don has been a successful, accomplished Business Development, Sales and Marketing leader with a proven track record for driving sales growth as well as planning, creating and executing integrated marketing strategies. Don is currently the Business Development Specialist at Applied Sciences Group in Buffalo. Don earned both his BS in Marketing and MBA from Canisius College in Buffalo and has served on the college’s Alumni Association Board of Directors. As Director of Marketing, Don was an integral member of the management team that increased Medco Sports Medicine’s sales from $4 million to $45 million in 10 years. He also has completed professional sales training courses from Carew International and Adec.
