This event is an example-driven two-day workshop on basic computing skills. Short tutorials alternate with hands-on practical exercises, and participants are encouraged both to help one another, and to try applying what they have learned to their own research problems during and between sessions. Participants should bring their own laptop to work on. This should be a "real" laptop - not a Chromebook, tablet, etc. You should also be sure to have admin privileges on this computer. See http://software-carpentry.org for more information about the organization.

This workshop is more advanced R lesson focusing on "Programming with R". This workshop covers data analysis and visualisation in R focusing on working with core data structures, using conditionals and loops, writing custom functions, and running R programs from the command line. This workshop is appropriate for learners with some previous programming experience, in R or other languages.
