A 4.5-mile snowshoe hike with 300' of elevation up & down at North-South Lake in the Catskills.

Bring your own snowshoes and microspikes, or add rentals for the day - $15 for snowshoes and/or $5 for microspikes. We will have varied sizes to choose from at the beginning of the hike.

Does winter’s arrival mean our hiking season is over? Absolutely not! In fact, winter provides a completely different landscape with natural beauty that everyone should experience. With the right footwear and traction devices, we can enjoy frozen waterfalls, incredible views that go forever now that they’re no longer obscured by the leaf canopy, identify and follow animal tracks in the snow, and do it all with fewer hikers on the trails!

We will be visiting North-South Lake, where you can expect a 4.5-mile loop hike, a relatively flat total elevation gain and loss of 300' taken at a leisurely pace, and a few unobstructed amazing views.

This snowshoeing day trip is perfect for beginners or those with snowshoeing experience looking to explore the trails in winter at a leisurely pace. Along the hike, we’ll cover key topics such as moisture management, different winter traction devices, and special considerations for a safe and successful winter hiking experience.

Although we're hoping for lots of snow to make it a snowshoeing wonderland, the weather is completely unpredictable. If we end up with less-than-ideal snowy conditions, we'll still have a great time with microspikes and go over winter hiking best practices and skills, such as how to dress, the different gear we carry, and other seasonal trip planning considerations to make winter hiking just as comfortable and enjoyable as the rest of the year.

Minimum Age: 12 years old - the minor(s) and a parent/guardian must all be paid registered participants.
