Snowshoeing at Donner Summit

Join us for a scenic winter snowshoe adventure near Donner Summit, one of the most beautiful and accessible alpine areas in the Sierra Nevada. This beginner-friendly outing takes you through peaceful snow-covered forests, open meadows, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding peaks. Along the way, you’ll learn basic snowshoe techniques, enjoy a relaxed pace perfect for all experience levels, and take in the quiet beauty of the winter landscape.
Expect crisp mountain air, opportunities for great photos, and a fun, supportive group atmosphere. This adventure is ideal for anyone looking to try snowshoeing for the first time or simply enjoy a refreshing winter day outdoors.

Registration covers the rental of snowshoes and interpretive guided hike.
The anticipated distance is about 3 miles out and back.

Location: Donner Summit Sno-Park Trailhead
If snow conditions are not appropriate for snowshoeing, this event may become a hiking tour. We will check the weather and conditions prior to the event and try to update the group if it looks like there will be a lack of snow.
Location may change to another location in the Tahoe area if snow is present in other areas.
Also, snowstorms or chain restrictions would postpone hike.
