Join us for a powerful, full-day professional development event designed for behavioral health professionals, peer support specialists, students, and community leaders. The 2025 SNAAP Symposium will explore ethical and cultural considerations in addiction and mental health services, with a special focus on suicide prevention, re-entry challenges, and emerging treatment models.

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM | Cultural Sensitivity & Suicide
Presented by Gerardo Wence-Muñoz PhD, ACS,LCPC (NV,IL,NM,TX,CA,WA)NCC,NCSC, this session examines how culture influences both suicidal ideation and prevention efforts.

10:45 AM – 11:45 AM | Ethics from a Cultural Lens
Led by Katherine Moldovan, PHD, LCSW, this session explores ethical service delivery in multicultural environments.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Re-Entry Simulation Experience
Presented by Jennifer L. Howe, M.S., LCPC, LCADC-Supervisor. Walk in the shoes of someone returning from incarceration. This interactive session highlights barriers and systems involved in re-entry, including:
- Parole & Probation
- Housing Authority
- Medicaid/Food Stamps (DWSS)
- Employment
- Substance Use Treatment & Testing
- AA/NA
- Transportation, Utilities, Groceries
- Blood Bank & Pawn Shop

3:15 PM – 4:15 PM | Abstinence vs. Psychedelic-Assisted Treatment Models
An open discussion on treatment ethics featuring:

4:15 PM – 5:00 PM | Self-Care Cool Down
Unwind and reflect on the day’s learning with a restorative session to end the symposium with Kimberly Landero MA, MAC, LCADC, LMFT, CPC, SAP/DOT.
