Founded in 2024 by conductor Kenneth Slowik, the Smithsonian Academy Orchestra is a resident ensemble of the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, a program of the National Museum of American History. The Orchestra’s repertoire ranges from Bach to Schoenberg, all performed on period-appropriate instruments. Hear them perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 93, Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony No.1, on November 7 at St. Mark's Capitol Hill at 7:30pm! SAO concerts are free and open to the public due to the generous support of The Honorable John F. W. Rogers and Goldman Sachs.
