Let’s discuss the enlivening of art and artifacts in the social media space.

But first, let’s take a selfie.

There is no denying the fact that social media has truly transformed the roles of all players — curators, planners, artists, scientists, and consumers — alike. In the game of fine art and natural history, social platforms have inspired everyone to become an artist in their own right. The mass sharing of works and objects and communicating science has created a town hall for anyone to browse and speak up. And organizations looking to convert digital traffic into literal traffic and extend resources in meaningful ways to digital audiences are working to assess how their efforts in social media measure up.

On October 20th we will learn just how museums are breaking free from the academic ivory tower and are learning to engage with online communities to drive visits like never before.

(What we really mean: they're doing Snapchat better than your 16-year-old niece.)

Join us as our expert panel paints a picture of the dynamic lives their institutions lead in the digital world.

Start the evening with the opportunity to meet and talk with panelists and other SMCLA attendees, board members and colleagues at 6:30pm - the panel will begin about 7:30pm. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
