The fourth annual UF Small Ruminant Short Course will be held on October 10-11, 2025. The Pre-conference Seminars will being on October 9, 2025 limited tickets available for purchase. The event is a collaboration among UF/IFAS Extension, the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, the UF/IFAS Agronomy Department, and the UF/IFAS Department of Animal Sciences. Producers, extension specialists and agents, researchers, students, and allied industry members are welcome to attend the in-person, educational event. The program will include lectures and demonstrations from industry experts. The event will be held in conjunction with the 2025 University of Florida Ram/Buck Test and Sale.

This unique program is a collaborative effort of the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Animal Sciences of the University of Florida and the University of Missouri (UM) Extension to bring topnotch information and training exclusively for veterinarians. During the program, there will be the opportunity for hands-on activity and a classroom educational program. We will focus on:

-Demonstrating the ultrasound-based Reproductive Tracts Score (RTS) system used by UF and UM faculty;

-Providing instruction on how to Reproductive Tracts Score (RTS) heifers focusing in the hands-on standardization with Food Animal DVMs from UF and UM;

-Sharing benchmarks information on data collected throughout the state of Florida related to the pubertal status and reproductive performance of beef heifers (the “Know Your Heifer” program) and also the well-established UM heifer program (the “Show-me Select” program);

- Chat with Floridian Food Animal DVMs about the opportunities to collaborate with the UF-“Know Your Heifer” program;

-The workshop will offer up to 4 hours of approved CE credits to licensed DVM in the state of Florida.
