Small & Mighty Business Series: Year-End Books & Preparing for Tax Time

Join us for this month’s Small & Mighty Business Series as we welcome Value Added Accounting Services for a practical, no-fluff session on year-end books and preparing for tax time. In one focused hour, you will learn how to close out your year cleanly, get organized for your CPA, and make smart choices before December 31 that can reduce stress and surprises when you file. This in-person session will be held in the Southwest Michigan First boardroom from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on December 17.

Our presenters include Thomas Schultz, tax partner and associate professor of accountancy at Western Michigan University, and Angela Schultz, managing partner and fractional CFO and controller. Together, they will walk through a high-level checklist for year-end, highlight common mistakes small business owners make, and share simple systems you can put in place now to make next year easier. Topics will include preparing and reviewing your year-end financials, organizing records for your tax preparer, understanding estimated payments, thinking through deductions and credits that often get missed, and basic planning ideas for 2026.
