Frequently asked questions

What makes WITF’s summer camps unique in the Harrisburg area?

Our camps are run and staffed by highly qualified staff with experience working with children. Camp lessons are developed by WITF’s professional educators, using inquiry as a framework and applying innovative teaching methods and best practices to provide robust experiences for campers.

What does STEM mean, in the context of a summer camp?

STEM means firsthand exploration of topics related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. A great example is our hands-on robotics summer camp!

What should my child wear to your summer camp?

Campers will be exploring and creating! It’s recommended to wear comfortable clothes and close toe shoes that are okay to get a little messy! Our Lights, Camera, Action and Flight camps may go outdoors. Students staying for the full day may eat outdoors, weather permitting.

Do I need to supply safety gear for a STEM camp?

No, we will supply googles and any other necessary safety equipment.

Do I need to pack lunch for my child?

Yes, please pack a lunch if your child is enrolled in full day camp.

How are drop-off and pickup handled?

An authorized adult (parent/guardian/other) will need to enter the lobby with the camper to sign campers in at the start of their camp and sign them out at the end of their camp.

How are drop-off and pickup handled? (cont.)

Morning and all-day camp drop-off begins at 7:45am. Pick-up for campers enrolled in morning-only camp is from noon – 12:15pm. Drop-off for campers enrolled in afternoon-only camp is from 12:45pm – 1:00pm. End of day pick-up for afternoon and all-day camp is from 5:00 – 5:15pm at the front entrance

Can I change my child’s summer camp registration?

Registration changes can be made up to 14 days prior to the start of camp. Adding an additional half-day camp will result in a $135/camper charge. Changing from full-day to half-day camp will result in a $135/camper refund.

How do I request a registration cancellation or change?

To request a refund or change to your registration, contact Jennifer Eley at jennifer_eley@witf.org or 717-910-2641. Refund requests will be responded to within 5 business days.

What if WITF cancels the camp?

We reserve the right to cancel camps that do not meet the minimum enrollment requirement. Should this occur, every attempt will be made to move students to a similar camp, or a full refund will be offered.

Does WITF offer a sibling discount for multiple campers?

WITF does not offer a sibling discount at this time.

What is the cancellation policy?

Full refunds will be issued to cancellations made at least 14 days prior to the start of camp. Cancellations or changes made less than 14 calendar days before camp starts will incur a $50 fee. Cancellations or changes made less than 7 calendar days before camp starts are not eligible for a refund.
