Sleep Well: Modern Insights and Ancient Practices
Overview
Taught by Marianne Benforado, Licensed Acupuncturist, Online Wellness Educator and Certified Advanced Holden Qi Gong teacher.
In this class, we’ll explore how modern sleep science and ancient practices from Traditional Chinese Medicine can work together to support healthier, more reliable sleep. You’ll learn why certain habits make such a difference and how small changes in your daytime routine, environment, and mindset can prepare your body for easier nights.
We’ll cover gentle movement, breathing, and relaxation techniques that help release tension and settle the nervous system. You’ll also learn simple lifestyle shifts that support your natural sleep rhythm. Everything is designed to be practical, accessible, and easy to use right away.
Whether you struggle with falling asleep, staying asleep, or simply want to feel more rested, you’ll leave with tools you can put into practice that same evening.

How the class will flow....
We’ll start with a moment of quiet so everyone can arrive and settle. I’ll share a little about why I care so much about sleep, and how both Western science and Chinese medicine shape the way I teach it. Nothing here is medical advice .... just general guidance and ideas you can explore. I’m a licensed acupuncturist and spent four years teaching wellness classes at a chronic pain clinic, where I learned just how deeply sleep influences healing. Part One: Understanding Sleep • What healthy sleep actually looks like • The stages of sleep and why they matter • A little brain/body science (simple, I promise) • My favorite book + podcast if you want to go deeper Part Two: Improving Your Sleep • Practical strategies you can start using tonight • How Chinese medicine views nighttime rest • Ways to calm your system and reset an unhelpful sleep pattern We’ll take a short stretch break partway through, and you can always move or get water whenever you need. Camera off is fine.
