Slab Building Workshop with Lucy Tolan

By Tameka Carter

Overview

An intimate, hands on ceramics workshop where participants explore site specific textures, pattern and colour through slab-building.

Guided by artist Lucy Tolan, you’ll create a small sculptural ceramic form using accessible materials and experimental mark-making. Perfect for beginners and the ceramic curious.

The workshop with cover:

Lucy's practice

Slab rolling by hand

Varying approaches: surface, texture, pattern, intuitive shaping

Creating a simple construction

Visualising and documenting the forms within the surrounding community gardens

This is a free workshop as part of the QUID PRO QUO public program curated by Tameka Carter. All materials provided. As places are limited, please only book if you’re confident you’ll be able to attend.

Participants are encouraged to wear old comfy clothes and/or an apron. To find out more about the exhibition follow @t_r_carter_artist

Finished forms will be fired and glazed by Lucy and Tameka. Proudly supported by the city of Melbourne.
