Sky Viewing - Planterium and Rooftop Show
Overview
We will be hosting a planaterium show with an open Q&A period targetted towards first year students who are passionate about astronomy but have no prior experience (but of course, everyone is welcome!) The show will consist of constellation navigation, alongside Greco-Roman and Indigenous mythology, Auroras, and our place in the Universe (including our solar system and the Milky Way). It should last approximately an hour.
We will also be hosting a rooftop viewing of a dome telescope, a tabletop dobsonian telescope, and some binoculars. Feel free to bring your own binoculars if you would like. If the weather is cloudy, we will still show and talk about the instruments and try to point at the moon, but we will also host a microscope demonstration of how telescopes work. Also, please note that the rooftop may not be physically accessible to all. The stairs have handrails, but no elevator. Additionally, the entrance to the dome of one of the telescopes is really awkward and requires crouching through a small entrance way.
Nonetheless, make sure to dress warm!
