Sketch The Solstice
Overview
Sketch The Solstice
Get ready to unleash your creativity at Sketch The Solstice! This is an awesome in-person event where we come together to celebrate the magic of the solstice through sketching as a form of meditation.
We will climb the Hills and sketch the pre-dawn scenery as we wait for the longest night to end. Zero skill is required! This is all about using observation and mark-making to honour the changing seasons of nature and our lives. As dawn breaks there will be a short meditation/ritual to welcome the light, after which we will create more art- this time embracing the colours of dawn.
Then we will walk back down the hill and around to the spring where I will lead a meditation to connect with the spirit of the place before we complete our final artistic creation of the day.
Apologies, but this is a 13yrs+ event (famliy friendly events coming soon so follow this account if that is of interest to you).
This will be a phsyically challenging climb to the top of the hills across potentially slippy territory and so is only appropriate for those whose bodies can manage that level of activity. If this does not apply to you but you would have liked to come, please let me know as I can arrange other events that are more suitable in the new year if there is demand.
If the weather is looking too wild we may need to avoid the hilltop, or cancel- in which case refunds will be given (sketching in the driving rain is no fun!). Adequate footwear and appropriate clothing must be worn. Bring a snack, a drink and a camper chair or robust picnic blanket and an umbrella just in case the weather changes. Art supplies will be provided.
There is parking on the road alongside St Nicolas Church.
