This seven week writing intensive course will build on the principles of comedy writing with a focus on writing premise-based sketches. Students will learn how to develop strong premises and heighten them over the course of a scene. In the second half of the course, students will edit and punch up their material. This course includes a staged reading of student work. Prerequisite for this class is Sketch Level One at Stomping Ground. This is a writing intensive course with one to two hours of writing per week expected outside of class.
This course will focus on:
- Establishing and heightening comedic premises in scenes
- Parody, commercials, and satire
- Working in a Writer's Room
- Editing and punching up material
This is a recurring class for seven weeks on Wednesdays from 7-9:30pm starting Wednesday, January 7. The instructor is Kristal Milazzo. All sales are final. Listed price of class does not include Eventbrite's service fee (3.7% + $1.79) and payment processing fee (2.9%) which will be added to the total price at checkout. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment may be deferred to a future class with TCD approval. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
