What is Sketch Cabaret?

Sketch Cabaret is an unguided life drawing and figure drawing session where art meets performance. Tucson’s local entertainers pose in costume and character, creating a dynamic live art experience in the Grand Salon of Temple Arts Collective.

Is this a class or a workshop?

Sketch Cabaret is not a guided class. There is no instruction or critique—participants draw independently while enjoying a shared creative environment. Gerrie Young, professional artist and arts educator with 50+ years of experience and an M.A. in Art Education, will be available to answer questions

What kind of models will be posing?

Accepted Answer

Models are professional entertainers—including dancers, actors, and movement artists—posing in expressive costume and character. Models are different every month.

Question 4

Is nudity involved?

Accepted Answer

No. Models are costumed, though poses may be expressive, theatrical, or suggestive depending on the performance style. Some models can be provocative, enter at your own risk or contact Lali Nicole at Templeartscollective@gmail.com to inquire.

What should I bring?

Bring your preferred drawing supplies (sketchbook, pencils, charcoal, etc.). Easels are provided. Bring water.  Light snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Are all art mediums allowed?

Yes with restrictions. All dry and non-messy mediums are welcome. Please avoid materials and equipment (clay, metalwork, airbrushes, torches) that could hinder breathing, damage floors or furniture in the Grand Salon. No open flame allowed in the building.

How long is the session?

Sessions run 2 hours and include a series of timed poses and one 15 minute break.

Is this a social event?

Yes. Sketch Cabaret is a social art experience—quiet drawing during poses, conversation during breaks. Doors open 30 minutes early to allow for socializing.

Do I need to RSVP?

Yes. Space is limited to 20 seats for an intimate experience and advance registration is required.

At Temple Arts Collective located in the historic Labor Temple Studios in Downtown Tucson, Barrio Viejo.
