Our Group Exercise Instructor short course provides hands-on training, expert-led instruction, and skills needed to lead dynamic classes.

Short Course Details

Specialise and become a certified Group Exercise Instructor! This is a Nationally Recognised Qualification accredited by Physical Activity Australia.

Once you have completed your SIS30321 – Certificate 3 in Fitness, you can take this short course to become a certified Group Exercise Instructor. Upon completion of this qualification, you’ll have developed additional training skills necessary to:

  • Lead Group Fitness Classes: Instruct a variety of group exercise classes, such as freestyle, circuit, and pre-choreographed sessions.
  • Design Safe and Effective Workouts: Create engaging, structured fitness routines while ensuring participant safety and effectiveness.
  • Work in Various Fitness Settings: Find employment in gyms, fitness centers, or run independent group classes.
  • Motivate and Manage Groups: Confidently manage group dynamics, offer guidance, and motivate participants to achieve their fitness goals.
  • Adapt to Different Fitness Levels: Tailor workouts to accommodate participants of all fitness levels.
  • Comply with Industry Standards: Ensure classes adhere to safety regulations and fitness best practices.

If you’re looking to develop your very own, unique fitness sessions and programs, then the College of Health and Fitness Group Exercise Instructor short course is for you! Upon completing the Group Exercise Instructor short course and completing the two nationally recognised units in this course, personal trainers and Instructors will be qualified to develop and deliver group fitness sessions that include cardiovascular, resistance, and flexibility exercises for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Course Outcomes

As an instructor, you will be qualified to develop and deliver group fitness sessions that can be offered in a variety of settings, such as gyms, health clubs, community centers, schools, workplaces, and more. Graduates will gain valuable industry skills and the ability to design customised group exercise sessions or lead pre-designed programs, such as pre-choreographed classes.
