ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Sirvan Manhoobi is a Kurdish Iranian multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator specializing in Iranian classical and folk music. A graduate of San Francisco State University under Hafez Modirzadeh, he is pursuing a PhD in ethnomusicology at the University of Maryland, focusing on Kurdish and Yaresan music. Winner of three national soloist awards, he has performed with Shahram Nazeri, Bijan Kamkar, Mojgan Shajarian, and Bahram Beyzai, and ensembles such as Shams, Pacific Symphony, and Sorvad. His works, including music for theater and film, blend tradition with innovation, bridging cultures and sharing Iran’s rich musical heritage across global stages.
