About this event
It’s hard to imagine a sound this big coming from just two people. Local favorites SIRSY perform compelling and soulful original rock and pop songs with charming intensity. The band is fronted by charismatic vocalist/drummer Melanie Krahmer and her guitarist husband Rich Libutti. They write honest, engaging songs that are instantly relatable and catchy. Krahmer’s vocals are sultry and seductive, but also a bit raspy and rocking – with a little bit of a tongue-in-cheek tone, as if she’s singing with a wink. The Times Union hails Krahmer as “one of the most powerful and flexible voices you’ll ever hear” with “clever, smart songs that have more hooks than a tackle box.” The Houston Music Blog raves, “It’s edgy-feel-good music that’s fun to watch.” The Boston Globe calls SIRSY the “little band” with a “big sound.”
At live shows, Krahmer also plays bass on a keyboard with her drumstick & throws in a few mean flute solos too. Libutti plays a road worn and well-loved Rickenbacker guitar through a pedal board full of vintage effects. Live, Libutti also plays bass on a pedalboard with his feet. This is how these multi-instrumentalists manage to sound like a full band, despite there being just two of them. And somehow, they do it all with big smiles on their faces. It’s clear they love what they do. And that love is contagious when you see them live. You can’t help smiling along with them. Their energetic show often includes stories from the road, laughter, dance parties – and yes – even Libutti's nerdy Star Wars jokes. Every show is a celebration for this couple who cheer each other on through all the ups and downs life can throw at us. Join this power couple for a SIRSY show and celebrate along with them!
Opener Steve Hartmann is from the greater Burlington, VT area, by way of Philadelphia, PA. Passionately captivating with a medicinal vocal conviction, he has been described as the grey between Damien Rice, Dave Matthews, and Dermot Kennedy. Dashboard Confessional front man, Chris Carrabba comments, “Steve’s vocals are pristine!” Having opened for acts like Chris Carrabba, Bryan Adams, Train, and Ellis Paul, in small clubs to amphitheaters, house concerts to festivals, Hartmann’s Berklee College of Music experience will draw you in and leave you wanting more.
