About this event

Welcome to our Simply Sunday Sound Bath Meditation with Sound Therapist Gary Posner

The events will take place in a wonderful location called Land of Buddha on 11 St Marks Place, in the East Village, NYC

These Sunday events will be especially helpful in getting you relaxed and ready for the week ahead.

Therapeutic Sound Baths are a combination of restorative yoga, meditation and a sacred sound concert. “They are deeply-immersive, full-body listening experiences that intentionally use sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to nurture your mind and body.”

The experience begins by lying down (think Savasana), often with a blanket and an eye pillow. After a few moments of breathing and balancing with tuning forks and Himalayan Bowls, the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies introduced therapeutically in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, harmonium, crystal singing bowl, chimes, rainsticks, rattles, shakers and the human voice.

The possible benefits of a sound bath include:

  • Immediate reduction in anxiety and stress
  • Muscle Relaxation & Repair
  • Reduces pain
  • Improves symptoms of depression
  • Aids in the treatment of addiction
  • Improves stress management
  • Promotes sleep
  • Regulates sleep patterns

  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Enhances memory, concentration, and focus
  • Improves mood and sense of happiness
  • Stimulates the immune system

Sound Baths are a combination of restorative yoga, meditation and a sacred sound concert. They have been shown to reduce stress, enable deep relaxation, enhance creativity, possibly uplift the spirit and help with insomnia. Sound Meditations slow down your brainwaves and guide you into a deep meditative state or altered state of consciousness. Participants lay down comfortably and then are “immersed” in the sounds, vibrations and harmonics of the instruments. Gongs, Himalayan bowls, crystal singing bowls, tuning forks and shamanic percussion instruments are played in a clinically tested, therapeutic sequence to maximize benefits. No previous knowledge or experience is required. Sound is a very accessible form of meditation where benefits are usually experienced right after the first session. As my teacher likes to say, “simply lay down and bathe in the sound.”
