7-Hour Workshop

Date: Saturday, December 13, 2025

Time: 10am-5pm

Description: Students will learn basic forging and forming skills to fabricate a sterling silver cocktail spoon. Basic hand tool usage will be discussed if participants are not familiar, with the emphasis being on safety, hand strength and fine motor skills. Each student will leave with a completed food-safe silver spoon that can be used for making cocktails or mocktails!

Tuition: $105 + $60 materials fee

Full and partial tuition scholarships are available to offset some of the financial burden of attending a class. You can complete an application here! You can expect to hear from someone on the CC staff within 2 weeks.

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.

Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist

Kayla Staigvil is a studio jeweler residing in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her MFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in Metal Design at East Carolina University in 2016. Kayla also received a BFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2013 with a concentration in metalsmithing/jewelry design. Her mentors include Bob Ebendorf, Cappy Counard, Sue Amendolara, Tim Lazure and Ken Bova. Kayla specializes in traditional silversmithing techniques and often incorporates found objects into her work along with gemstones and pearls. Besides making jewelry; Kayla is an avid baker, loves to read fantasy books and is involved in the local DIY scene.
