Shucking + Tasting Master Class at Hog Island Petaluma!
Overview
Join us for a special Shucking Master Class Pop-Up at Hog Island Oyster Co., Petaluma! We’re opening our doors for an intimate, hands-on shucking experience where you’ll dive into the history of Hog Island, learn to shuck like a pro, and enjoy an oyster tasting paired with a glass of sparkling wine.
This one-day event is part of the first annual Warehouse Walk, hosted by the Petaluma Warehouse District Association, and aligns with the Watershed Building’s festive Under One Roof holiday marketplace. Come for the oysters—stay for the neighborhood celebration.
Each 1-hour class will be led by Hog Island's Director of Education, Dr. Gary Fleener, and award-winning shucker and Director of Supply Chain, Sean Beyo, and limited to 15 guests per class for a relaxed, interactive experience.
- You’ll kick things off with a glass of sparkling wine, then dive into the world of oysters—learning about species, farming methods, and what makes Hog Island’s oysters unique.
- Next, you’ll grab your knife and glove for a shucking master class, guided step-by-step by our team.
- We’ll finish with an oyster tasting and send you home with your own shucking knife and glove, so you can keep the fun (and the oysters) flowing at home.
Join us December 6th at 11 AM or 1 PM, for a holiday toast, a taste of the sea, and a celebration of learning through food!
