Shir Shalom's Day of Jewish Learning

Shir Shalom's Day of Jewish Learning

Overview

Study Sessions and buffet style lunch provided by the Worship and Life Long Learning Committees.

In Judaism, study is not a passive activity, but rather an engaging, continuous process for moral growth, self examination, spiritual connection, and the preservation of Jewish identity. In that spirit, we invite you to take a look at these study questions:

  1. How does Judaism view science in relation to religion?
  2. What are the major issues facing religion as a whole, and Judaism especially, in the context of the modern world?
  3. According to Jewish teachings, why is there suffering?
  4. What are the most common misconceptions about Judaism?
  5. What are Judaism's views on evil, the devil or Satan?
  6. With religion in decline, how is Judaism trying to maintain or spread its faith among younger generations?
  7. Does Judaism believe in Heaven and / or Hell? The Afterlife?
  8. Has the internet, social media or A.I. changed any aspect of Jewish life in America?
  9. What is something people often wrongfully assume about Judaism?
  10. What do you wish more people knew about Judaism?

These questions above and more await us as we gather together to grapple with deep questions and deeper answers.

Come to Burlingame Hall. Buffet style lunch will be provided. Reservation is required so we can have an accurate head count and set up.
