Overview

Benefiting the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center's advocacy and support work for women, LGBTQI+ people, and indigenous communities

Join us on the eve before Thanksgiving for a fun, energizing hour of shimmies and sassy, explosive combinations to get your body moving and your endorphins flowing! We'll work with 12 different shimmies and dance combinations using upbeat, modern music. Then stick around to chat and dance with friends if you like!

Wednesday 26 November 7 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. CST (7-8 class, social hour 8-9)

*********************************

This class is FREE—my gift to you this Thanksgiving—but if you are financially able, please donate to the fundraiser. All funds collected will go to the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center (NIWRC). NIWRC is a Native-led nonprofit organization committed to ending violence against Native women, children, and communities. They work to ensure access to safe, affordable housing, legal services, childcare, economic security, community education, and other basic resources, and to provide community-driven, trauma- and resiliency-informed services in respectful ways.
This is part of my (mostly) annual tradition of November fundraisers to benefit indigenous causes. As a "white" person who also has Oneida heritage, I recognize this holiday can be complicated for many in the indigenous communities and others. It feels an appropriate time to honor our country's First Nations roots by contributing to Native-led organizations that counteract past harm and ongoing marginalization resulting from colonial laws, practices, and attitudes.
