Intermediate Rope Workshop for Tying Pairs

Join us for an immersive 3 hour workshop focused entirely on the iconic Takate Kote — also known as the Box Tie, Gote, or TK. This intermediate-level intensive is designed for rope-versed tying pairs ready to deepen their technical understanding and refine their connection through one of the most recognizable ties in shibari.

Whether you're aiming for beautiful floor play, expressive connection, or stable structural harnesses, this workshop explores the art, anatomy, and evolving ethics of the TK in both traditional and modern forms.

🔶 What You'll Learn

You’ll receive in-depth, hands-on instruction in five distinct TK variations, including:

  • Classic 2-Rope TK – the foundation of many functional ties
  • Front-Arm TK – ideal for limited mobility and emotional access
  • Hands-Free Mayfly TK – an arm-free structure perfect for sensation play
  • Infinity TK – stylish, balanced, and modern
  • 3rd Rope Front-Loading TK – hybrid structure with dynamic load options

Each variation will be covered with purpose, application, tension control, aesthetics, and practical discussion on when (and why) to use them.

🔶 What We'll Explore

  • Anatomy & nerve safety: identifying risk zones and reading your partner’s body
  • TK variations for different bodies, experiences, and intentions
  • Managing uplines and body balance: where and how to safely anchor
  • Emotional and energetic impact of TKs in connection and surrender
  • Practical pros and cons of each tie — when aesthetics matter and when they don’t
  • Insights from trusted resources:

This class is not focused on suspension or performance tying — rather, on building a solid, versatile TK vocabulary for intentional, embodied rope work.

🔶 Who It's For

  • Intermediate tying pairs (must be comfortable with single & double column ties)
  • Rope bottoms ready to explore longer tie durations and chest harnesses
  • Rope tops seeking refinement, structure, and deeper consent-based practice

This class is open to all genders, bodies, and dynamic styles. Respect, consent, and active communication are foundational.

🔶 What to Bring

  • Your rope kit (3–5 ropes recommended; 6mm preferred)
  • A trusted tying partner
  • A notebook and pen for journaling or sketching
  • Water, snacks, anything needed for your physical comfort
  • Practice rope will be available to borrow; curated rope available for sale onsite

🔶 Please Note

This class involves close physical contact. By registering, you agree to uphold the consent culture of this space. We will practice negotiation, communication, and mutual feedback. All genders, identities, and orientations are warmly welcome.

If you’re ready to refine your skill, build a nuanced relationship with this fundamental tie, and expand your rope language with confidence and care — this workshop is for you.

✨ Let the box tie become a canvas for connection, creativity, and consensual surrender.

REGISTRATION IS FOR A TYING PAIR. (2 people)
