Two-Part Class, Saturday October 18 10am-4pm and Saturday November 15, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Whether you're repairing an existing wall or finishing a new space, sheetrocking and taping is an essential home repair skill. This two-part workshop introduces you to the fundamentals of drywall installation—from cutting and fastening to taping and mudding for a smooth, paint-ready finish.

In Part 1, participants will focus on hanging drywall: measuring, cutting, and securing sheets to framing, applying joint compound, embedding tape, sanding, and patching damaged walls. Part 2 will include a recap of Part 1 and assess the work in a "real-world" demonstration following the addition of tile and trim from prior workshops. With a combination of demonstrations and hands-on learning, this workshop gives you the tools and techniques to confidently tackle wall projects at home.

Instructor Frank Harris is the owner of Drywall Plus, a sheetrocking and taping company serving Greater Boston since 1988. In addition to extensive experience in sheetrocking, Frank is skilled in light interior framing and painting and is a licensed construction supervisor.

Learning Goals:

  • Measure, cut, and hang drywall panels securely and accurately
  • Identify and use basic drywall tools correctly
  • Tape and mud seams for a clean finish
  • Repair existing walls with patches and compound
  • Understand proper drying times, sanding, and layering
  • Take on simple drywall projects with confidence
