The Sheds of Hope ministry provides not only dry and secure storage space for belongings of those impacted by storms, but also an opportunity for volunteers and local churches to reach out into communities. This can allow teams opportunities to not only hear the stories of those impacted and build relationships, but also "to share the story of the greatest gift they could ever have, the mercy of Christ, extended to them through people like you". The shed kits are assembled and then shrink-wrapped to be stored outside. As needs arise, the kits are loaded on trailers to be hauled to disaster impacted areas, where other teams assemble the kits at homes and church properties.

The Dallas Depot is well equiped for the construction and storage of the shed kits and we plan to have regular shed builds to keep up inventories so we are ready to respond to future storms.

This can be a great event for groups like deacons or families, along with coming as an individual. Prior construction experience isn't needed - training is provided.

Schedule

Here are the plans for each day (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with light meal provided). Sign up for each day that you plan to join us - even if you're only available part of the time.

Overall

Registration is first-come, first-serve, with 15 available slots per day. Please sign up for each day that you plan to come. You can come for part of the day, or are welcome to join us for the entire time.

Minimum age of 15 (parents must be present for minors)

We also require completion of a liability waiver if you haven't completed one in the past 2 years. Parents fill out the waiver for minors. You can download the waiver to you if you'd like to fill it out ahead of time, or you can fill it out when you arrive. We need the information on both pages of the waiver.

Volunteers should wear sturdy clothes and shoes (no "flip flops, sandals, or other open toed footwear). Bring work gloves, if you'd like, and we have all the tools, safety glasses, etc.
