Shared Rhythms: Guru Chitralekha Patnaik’s Life in Dance
Overview
In this third session of OANA's Oral History Series, we honor one of the true pioneers of Odissi in North America, Guru Chitralekha Patnaik. Her legacy and career as a performer, choreographer, and educator spans over over fifty years in North America. Making this conversation all the more memorable are our facilitators, Ellora and Devraj Patnaik, Guru Chitralekha Patnaik’s own children, students, and co-founders of the Canada based institution, Chitralekha’s Odissi Dance Creations. We believe this conversation between Guru and students, mother and children will bring intimate insights into the deep bonds of shared experiences, artistic connections and intergenerational relationships that continue to enrich Odissi.
We hope you will join us for this special series, one that is sure to resonate profoundly with our community. This event is free to attend, but requires registration.
The Odissi Alliance of North America (OANA) celebrates significant contributions by senior Odissi artists in North America through our Oral History Series.
