Overview

A session to discuss children and young people's opinions from the SHAPE Survey 2025, and how this can help improve services in Sandwell.

Sandwell’s Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) is a new council initiative that aims to improve how we use research and evidence to plan and deliver our services. This will help to ensure that our services are informed by evidence of what works, are good value for money, and reflect the needs of local residents.

HDRC Sandwell’s culture and evidence-informed practice workstream are developing how research can be utilised to improve service design and delivery. We are delivering information sessions with the aim of increasing the use of evidence being used in practice. These will include presentations on research that has been undertaken, and discussions on how that research could be potentially used in service design, delivery and in current job roles.

Sandwell’s SHAPE Programme is a Child’s Voice Initiative designed to listen to children and young people in Sandwell. The SHAPE Survey is an annual online survey sent to schools and colleges for children and young people aged 9 – 18 years to consult with young people on various topic areas that affect them in today’s society. The results have been used by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and partners to make improvements to the services delivered to children and young people in Sandwell.

This session will focus on the Shape Survey results from 2025. This will provide data and evidence to highlight the needs of children and young people. It will also demonstrate how these could be used by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and partners to make changes to their services to meet these needs.
