Do I have to be an NYC Marathon runner to participate?

Nope! This run is open to everyone.

What is the purpose of this run?

A shakeout run is an easy, short jog, usually done the day before (or sometimes the morning of) a race. The goal is to loosen up your muscles, calm nerves, and keep your body relaxed and ready. It helps increase blood flow, shake out stiffness, and mentally prepare you.

Who will be participating in this run?

Professional runner Sage Canaday, who serves as coach for NBCA's marathon team, will lead the run. Members of NBCA's marathon team will take part, as well as any interested runners who will be in New York City at this time.

Get ready to run! Kick off marathon weekend with elite runner and pulmonary embolism survivor Sage Canaday and the National Blood Clot Alliance’s TCS NYC Marathon Team for a 3-mile shakeout run through Central Park the day before the big race.
