Have you ever wondered why you’re not getting a diverse candidate pool of resumes? The first step is taking a look at your job descriptions! In this interactive workshop, we’ll cover unconscious bias and how that might be impacting the writing of your job descriptions. This is one aspect of our longer workshops that cover many aspects to hiring and recruiting inclusively. You’ll walk away knowing:
- What an unconscious bias is and how it relates to writing job descriptions
- Pitfalls to watch out for when writing a job description and concrete tips on how to make your job description more inclusive
- Practice editing/writing an inclusive job description with your peers

In CIC space at 50 Milk Street, Boston, in the Meridien meeting room on the 5th floor. You will need to use the left-side elevator bank after checking in with security.
About the Facilitator
Regis Shields
Regis Shields has deep and extensive experience in the fields of education, law, consulting and diversity and inclusion. Currently she is a consultant specializing in equity audits and designing and facilitating diversity, equity and inclusion trainings. She is a nationally recognized expert on equity issues in education and has presented and published extensively. Regis holds an MPA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, a JD from New York University and is a recipient of Georgetown University’s Certificate in Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Management.
