Andrea Lazorik on "Home Sharing: A Community Solution to Housing and Social Isolation"
There is a housing crisis in San Francisco, the Bay Area, and across the nation. At the same time, we are facing an epidemic of loneliness and isolation. Home sharing, supported by dedicated professionals, offers a promising solution to both challenges.
In today’s presentation, Andrea Lazorik, Program Director of Home Match San Francisco, will highlight the many benefits of home sharing, explain how the Home Match process works, and explore how this model can serve vulnerable members of our shared community.
Andrea will also share stories of successful matches. The San Francisco branch currently supports over 20 older adults, ranging in age from 64 to 95. Many of these home providers rely on the extra income to cover housing costs, while others value the companionship and help around the home. The Home Match program is offered at no cost.
About Andrea:
Andrea brings a unique blend of personal passion and professional expertise to her role at Home Match. Her advocacy work began when her father became disabled and unhoused at age 60, leading her to navigate complex systems to secure support. That experience fueled her commitment to preventing homelessness among older adults and people with disabilities.
With a background in real estate operations and in-home care services for seniors, Andrea helps streamline housing solutions for Home Match participants. Outside of work, she enjoys walking in Golden Gate Park, trying new recipes, and hosting game nights with friends.
Faith Journey:
Judith Dancer, an "embodied Lutheran Buddhist who celebrates the Divine Feminine/Masculine within each of us."
