About this event

Sports & Fitness • Cycling

In this class, we'll go on a guided group ride to practice street-riding skills on increasingly high-volume streets. This class is the third in the Smart City Cycling sequence, and Smart City Cycling 2 is a prerequisite. If you have not already taken Smart City Cycling 2, you can register at sfbike.org/events.

Skills covered in this class include:

  • Taking the lane
  • Changing lanes
  • Left turns
  • Lane positioning and signaling

All participants MUST either bring a bike or rent a bike in advance. Bikes will not be available for rental at the class. If you don’t have a bicycle, we will send information on how to rent one for the class. The cost of bike rental (if needed) will be covered by you, the participant. If the cost of a bike rental (about $40) is a challenge for you, please email Qamuuqin Maxwell at qmaxwell@sfbike.org or call at‪ (415) 323-0597, as we have limited funding available for rentals.

Please contact Qamuuqin Maxwell (qmaxwell@sfbike.org / (415) 323-0597) with any questions about this program.

This class is made possible by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority through a grant of Proposition L local transportation sales tax funds. It is part of the SFMTA’s Bicycle Safety Education program, presented in partnership with the nonprofit San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.
