What do I need to bring to this class?

Accepted Answer

You'll want to bring with you: your own sewing machine, the foot control and power cord, a bobbin, a fresh new needle, and a spool of thread. If your machine came with a manual, bring it along! Even if you don't know what the attachments do, bring them. :)

Question 2

What if I don't know if my machine works?

Accepted Answer

If you press the foot control and the needle goes up and down quickly, it's a good sign that the machine works! If you find during class that it does not work, your instructor will have one or two machines you could borrow during class.

Do I need to bring fabric or scissors?

Accepted Answer

You do NOT need to bring your own supplies-- but you are welcome to bring them along. Your instructor will provide some small pieces of fabric and other supplies. Please DO bring a spool of thread, the bobbin that comes with your machine, and a fresh sharp needle.

Question 4

What can I expect to learn during this class?

Accepted Answer

You'll learn a bit about how the machine works (like how stitches are formed), how to set up the machine, and a few basic stitches. We will practice basic tasks until they feel familiar. You'll learn to fix and prevent common problems.  At the end we will do a simple project to practice your skills!

Where do I park?

There is ample parking in the covered Pavilion lot next to The Ivy Green.

Question 6

Do you sell or provide machines for the class?

Accepted Answer

No, you'll be using your own machine during class. If you need suggestions on buying a new machine, your instructor will have a few suggestions.

Question 7

I can't attend this date-- will you offer the class again? What if I buy a ticket but I get sick?

Accepted Answer

Yes! I offer this class every few months. If you are sick the day of class and cannot attend, your instructor will offer you a refund, a credit for the next class, or a one-on-one tutorial at Smart Sewlutions studio.
