What’s on the menu:
Pratt is excited to partner with Step Afrika! to kick off our 2026 Serving Up Wisdom luncheon series!! This inspiring performance and workshop introduces participants to the rich history, cultural significance, and artistic discipline of stepping. Through rhythmic movement, call-and-response, and engaging demonstrations, attendees explore themes of community, resilience, and cultural expression. This program also highlights the African roots of stepping, including traditions such as the South African gumboot dance, offering meaningful insight into the art form’s global and historical connections. The experience concludes with a light, optional group activity that invites participants to join in simple movements at their comfort level—encouraging creativity, connection, and joyful participation.
After the workshop, participants will be invited to participate in other facilitated activities or our regular book discussion group led by Pratt Librarians from the Fiction Dept.
Lunch will be provided.
Please contact Madelyn McCaully at mmccaully@prattlibrary.org or 410-396-5494, if you have questions about registration or to request accommodations.
