Senya
Overview
Senya is a guitarist, bandleader, and composer based in Chicago and New
York mainly working in the jazz world. Currently studying at the Manhattan
School of Music, Senya has worked under the tutelage of some of the most
important jazz musicians in the world such as Mike Moreno, Mark Whitfield,
Bobby Broom, Rodney Whitaker and Pasquale Grasso, as well as having shared
the stage and studio as a sideman with names like Marquis Hill, Samara Joy, and
Donald Harrison Jr.
As a bandleader, he has been working headlining venues around Chicago for
half a decade, and is in the process of recording his debut album. His group goes
between quintet and sextet, and attempts to push the boundaries of jazz as an
artform through blending influences from punk, soul, and classical musics.
