About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Join The Harwood Institute, Selma-Dallas County Children’s Policy Alliance, the Selma-Dallas County NAACP, and Foot Soldiers Park for a community conversation and the premiere of Selma, Beacon of Hope.

Selma, Beacon of Hope is a new short film produced by The Harwood Institute that explores Selma’s past, present, and what it will take to move the community forward. Through interviews with community members and civic leaders, the short film highlights Selma’s fierce spirit, perseverance, and commitment in the face of overwhelming challenges. Just as the city led the way in 1965, Selma is taking us over the bridge again to a brighter, better, more hopeful future.

The event will feature a discussion between Krystal Allen, Founder & CEO of K. Allen Consulting, and Rich Harwood, President and Founder of The Harwood Institute, special remarks from Judge Vernetta Perkins Walker, a Q&A, and an interactive community conversation.
