Are you ready to explore your creativity? Whether you're a seasoned artist or newly into folk arts or even if you've never done anything like this before, we'd love for you to join us for this free, fun, arts-based event at Dan Ryan Woods.

Self Love in Nature is a family-friendly event series presented in partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County and led by Chicago-born and raised artists and wellness practitioners from the South Side.

Light of Loving Kindness’s “Self Love in Nature” series provides access to quality arts and cultural programming through a variety of traditional and folk art modalities, such as visual art, dance, drumming, yoga, music, cultural crafts, herbalism, forest bathing, cooking, writing, and other self-care, mental wellness tools.

Our focus is participants from BIPOC communities; however, our programs are open to all participants. We work with several Chicago-based artists, dance instructors, nature guides, environmental advocates, mental wellness advocates, trauma-informed specialists, and mindfulness-based practitioners like yoga and meditation teachers. One of our primary focuses is to work with communities that have experienced inequities in the areas of shared spaces in nature, and with POC who feel unsafe in nature environments. Our hope is to create a safe space for participants to experience a renewal of self-love through the multiplicity of mindfulness-based tools offered in our workshops.
