About this event

Empowered & Equipped: Monthly Self-Defense at The Karma House
🗓️ Every 2nd Sunday | 🕓 4:00–5:00 PM
📍 The Headspace at The Karma House

Empowerment, safety, and self-defense for everyone.

Led by certified instructors Kayla Berry and Krista Hanley of We Are Safer Together, this monthly drop-in class is here to help you build confidence, strengthen your boundaries, and feel supported in your body.

We believe that safety is not individual—it’s communal. These workshops are designed to address your real-life safety concerns while helping you build both practical and emotional resilience.

✨ Learn verbal boundary setting
✨ Practice de-escalation techniques
✨ Explore physical self-defense for various types of attacks
✨ Build confidence through repetition and community connection

Each class is responsive to the needs of those in the room, and participants are encouraged to attend regularly to learn new skills and revisit familiar ones.

🧘 All bodies, abilities, and experience levels are welcome
💛 This is a trauma-informed, inclusive space where your voice and boundaries matter

About the Instructors:
Kayla brings over 5 years of experience in self-defense and violence prevention, while Krista—a Columbine survivor—has more than a decade of experience in trauma-informed facilitation and empowerment work.

Come as you are. Leave feeling stronger, safer, and more connected. 💪

🧘‍♀️ This class takes place in The Headspace at The Karma House, a community-rooted kava bar and creative wellness space in Lakewood, CO. The Karma House is all about intentional living, connection, and supporting the mind, body, and spirit through inclusive events, healing practices, and community care.

🍵 While you're here, feel free to enjoy a shell of kava—a plant-based tea traditionally used for its calming, grounding effects. It’s a great way to settle your nervous system and connect with others in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Whether you're here to learn, grow, or simply be, The Karma House is a space where you're welcomed exactly as you are. 💛
