Welcome to the Self Altar Workshop, a meaningful and sacred workshop exploring life's meaningful relics and mementos from the days of our lives and those who we love.
I'm Lauren Seeley, a Death and a Grief Doula, Death Worker, Creative Grief Workshop facilitator, and I work in a boutique funeral home in Brooklyn, NY.
Join us at the Memento Mori Cafe and enjoy delicious coffee and treats as we explore our own mortality in a safe held space, surrounded by others interested in this deep reflection as well.
If you died today, what would you want put on your altar to represent who you were and what held the most meaning in your life? What brought you joy? What did you hold dear? Explore this sacred work in a space where others come to discuss and contemplate their mortality in the form of creative self reflection and expression.
What you'll learn:
Why do we use altars? History and common places of altars. What items would you include to construct your memorial altar after your time here is through? What elements would bring comfort to your loved ones and make them feel your presence?
What you'll take away from this workshop:
Deeper reflection of what creates the essence of "you." A knowledge of how creating living altars and memorial altars can bring comfort and peace to your loved ones and yourself. A work packet with info from the workshop where you may list and draw your own altar and items, which can serve as an aide in planning your own end of life.
