Will I have a finished piece to take home after my first class?

Because of the nature of working with ceramics, all pieces built in class will need to dry and then be fired in our kiln. Students may contact the museum to pick up their work no sooner than 1 week following their class.

How many sessions do I need to attend?

The number of sessions is optional, but in order to hand build and glaze a ceramic piece a minimum of 2 sessions is required. This allows time to build, dry, bisque fire, glaze, and glaze fire your work.

Do I have to return to glaze my piece?

Glazing work at the museum is never a requirement. Students are welcome to pick up unglazed work from the museum to either glaze or paint at home. However, if students wish to use the museum's glazes and kiln for the additional firing they must be registered for a class.

MOCA is unable to keep unclaimed work beyond a period of 3 months. Students are encouraged to date their work and return to either complete or collect their pieces in a timely manner. Pieces left beyond the 3 month period after your most recent workshop will be disposed of.
