Get a head start on your spring garden with this hands-on seeding workshop at Willowbrook Farms. This introductory class is designed to give you the essential knowledge and confidence to start seeds indoors with success. You will be guided step-by-step through the process, from choosing the right seeds to caring for young seedlings as they grow.

With clear instruction and simple techniques, you will learn how to understand seed packets, prepare seed starting materials, sow seeds at the correct depth and provide the ideal conditions for germination. You will also learn how to care for seedlings, including watering, thinning and hardening off techniques that prepare plants for the outdoors.

By the end of class, you will leave with your own planted seed tray, a personal seed starting kit and the knowledge to continue growing at home. We look forward to helping you kick off a successful spring season.

What You Will Take Home

Each participant receives:

  • A personal seed starting kit with trays, seed starting mix and curated seeds
  • A planted seed flat containing the seeds you sowed during class
  • A printed reference guide with planting calendars, germination tips and care instructions
  • Foundational skills for starting seeds indoors with confidence

Adults and teens who are interested in gardening, learning new skills and preparing for the upcoming spring growing season. This class is great for beginners and anyone looking to improve their seed starting success.

  • A water bottle if you want one
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for a hands-on gardening activity

What’s Provided

All seed starting materials, gloves, trays, soil mix, curated seeds, reference guides and hands-on instruction are included.

About Your Instructor

This workshop is led by Becca, who will guide you through each step of the seed starting process in a friendly and supportive environment.

Where the Workshop Takes Place

The workshop takes place in the pole barn, located just south of the farm store. When you arrive, park near the farm store and follow the signs for the workshop area.
