About the exhibition

New Neighbors explores relationships, synergies, and conversations across artists and artistic communities in the greater Philadelphia region. Ursinus College studio art faculty — David AipperspachCari FrenoSarah Kaufman, and Sarah Pater — were each invited to exhibit work alongside an area artist or creative entity of their choosing, with whom they feel an affinity. The resulting exhibition brings their work into visual, material, or conceptual dialogue with work by Sarah McEneaneyChad StatesTony Bragg, and the duo Nadia Hironaka and Matthew Suib.

These artistic associations pushed existing relationships into unexplored terrain and generated new allegiances. Through diverse media and approaches, New Neighbors investigates themes of place, proximity, and the creative exchange that emerges when artistic practices intersect across communities. New Neighbors celebrates the dynamic relationships between the campus and the broader cultural landscape of the region, fostering conversation and connection through contemporary art.
